Full-Arch Zirconia Implant Bridges

Cosmetic tooth replacements are becoming more advanced, offering both aesthetics and strength. Zirconia is highly preferred in restorative dentistry for its superior strength and non-metallic appearance. Some of the most important features of zirconia bridges that make them an asset for restoring teeth are:

Strength

Zirconia gives superior strength and durability to dental bridges. In comparison to porcelain, zirconia can withstand wear and tear without chipping and can tolerate the forces of clenching and grinding teeth. The newer monolithic zirconia, which is made as a single or a monoblock, is nearly unbreakable, especially in the posterior area of the mouth.

Highly Aesthetic

Zirconia is a tooth-coloured material and is available in multiple shades, making it an excellent choice for tooth-coloured crowns and bridges. Zirconia crowns are metal-free and very aesthetic. To improve translucency, they can be slightly veneered with ceramic in the anterior region.

Biocompatibility

Zirconia, being biocompatible, is an excellent material for bridges and is even considered to be used as an implant material that is placed inside the bone. It does not cause any kind of inflammatory response to the gum, which might be seen in porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns due to the metal.

Zirconia Bridge Procedure

The process of making a zirconia bridge involves the following steps:

Initial consultation

Initially, to assess whether the bridge is suitable for the patient, the dentist will first do an initial consultation to check the patient's oral health, extent of tooth loss, and bone density.

Comprehensive dental examination

The dentist will perform a comprehensive dental examination, which includes a periodontal exam, bite evaluation, and tooth examination.

Preparation of abutment teeth

The dentist will start preparing abutments (metal connectors) by removing a layer of enamel around the teeth, which will be used as anchors for a dental bridge.

Taking digital scans

After the preparation of abutment teeth, a dental impression of the mouth will be taken, which will be sent to the laboratory for digital scanning.

Fabrication of the bridge using CAD/CAM

The dental lab technician will use a digital scan of teeth to create a three-dimensional digital design of the zirconia bridge. The digital design is used to carve out the dental bridge from a solid zirconia block using a computerized milling machine. The zirconia dental bridge will then be baked in a Dental Furnace.

Installation of the zirconia bridge

When the zirconia bridge is ready for installation, the dentist will apply an acid gel to the abutments, which are then coated with a bonding agent. To permanently fix the hybrid zirconia bridge, dental cement is put on the back side of the bridge and is then cured under a specific light.

Care and Maintenance of Zirconia Bridges

Maintaining and caring for zirconia bridges can be done by

Regular dental check-ups

Regular appointments with the dentist are essential for the early detection of issues with bridges.

Oral hygiene

Brush at least twice a day and floss once a day to prevent plaque accumulation around the restoration.

Avoid hard or sticky foods

Refrain from consuming hard or sticky food items, as the bridges can get damaged by chewing these kinds of food.

Avoid acidic or sugary foods

Refrain from consuming acidic or sugary foods to prevent tooth decay, which could affect the bridge.

It’s been 4.5 years since my full mouth dental implant procedure at Dr. Motiwala's clinic. The experience was amazing, and I’m always thankful. Dr. Motiwala is the best choice for dental procedures. I've had no issues, only compliments on my new smile. The staff, including Ms. Tasneem, provide a world-class experience. I'm glad I chose this clinic and India for my procedures.

I came back here after an initial visit in 2013 to get additional work done. My dentist in New Zealand was supportive of my decision to come here. My treatment here was of the highest standard as it was on my previous visit. I have had a full mouth restoration which included single-piece implants, a root canal followed by 29 NexxZr zirconia crowns (metal free). I would recommend Dr. Motiwala unreservedly.

The cost for such treatment, known as Full Mouth Rehabilitation, ranges worldwide from USD 15,000 to USD 100,000 or more. After researching, I chose to undergo treatment at Dr. Motiwala's Clinic in Hyderabad, India, due to their advanced techniques and high standards comparable to Swiss/German practices. The treatment was completed in 9 days with minimal discomfort, exceeding my expectations in quality and aesthetics. I consider it among the best dental implant treatments available globally.

After nearly a year of searching online, I found Dr. Motiwala’s website. His trademark procedures—“No Sinus Lift needed, no Bone Graft needed—PERMANENT TEETH FIXED IN THREE DAYS”—were too good to believe. My friends were skeptical, but after my inquiry, the coordinator, Ms. Tasneem, called me from India within hours. The service was efficient and unlike anything in my country.

A friend found Dr. Motiwala’s clinic through Google, had extractions and 12 implants in one day, and was extremely happy. Inspired, I did the same—2 extractions, 5 implants, 16 crowns, with no pain. I still call my journey “SHORT ROAD TO MY HOLLYWOOD SMILE!”.
